Reaper Discussion: Episode 1.11 - Hungry for Fame
Like I said in the episode recap, I liked this episode. I thought it steered clear of the usual quagmires that a new type of show, especially a comedy sub-sub-genre, can fall into: mainly a lot of repetition, the same sight gags every week, the same near-miss love stories (okay, it steers close to that one, but manages not to get stuck.)
- How much of a pink elephant in the room is (are) Sam and Andi’s mutual feelings for each other?
- Josie tried to comment, but was cut short.
- What about that Cady? Could she scare Alex Forrest (Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction)?
- Okay was Cady trying to scare Andi? Was it really just an inappropriate story told by a not-so-self-aware psycho?
- How much trouble is Cady going to make for Sam, when he even thinks of getting back with Andi? The trailer for next week’s episode made it obvious that something’s going to happen.
- So, we finally get to meet Sock’s mom. That may be all there is to say, or is it?
- Did they really think Carmona was going to stand there and be tempted by the canadian bacon? He’s a cannibal, and a dead one. He’s not just an every day carnivore! That was a weak point, even for a comedy.
- You notice, when Sock, in his neediest moments, was talking non-stop outside the shower. The voice gives away that it’s Sam’s mom, not Sam, in the shower. Of course, we don’t see her, since Allison Hossack has been busy on Canadian show, Robson Arms.
- Back to Sam and Andi, the Ross and Rachel of Reaper. We’ve already had a couple each of Paolos and Emilies. What’s next for them?
- And what of Sock and Josie? We don’t see much of Josie. With her on-and-off, hey we need access to some city records, role, are we due for a Revelations About Josie episode?
