CW’s Reaper Season 2: Cancel or Keep?
Will the CW’s Reaper return for a second season? Will you have another year of watching Sam and Andi try to make a go of it, and continue in the fight against Hell’s absentees? The CW will spend the remaining few episodes analyzing the ratings, and comparing them to their expectations of any new gems and drivel that crawl across their desks. Speculation about the show’s fate, as well as that of other shows, is dismal, at this point.
It doesn’t help that The CW, the child of Warner Brothers and CBS Corp, has been flagging all season. Ratings for even its best shows fall short of those on competing networks. The whole industry has suffered as a result of the writers’ strike, but The CW, already struggling to find a foothold among its target audience of 18-34 year olds, has been hit hardest. In fact, that “target” audience is Reaper’s failing point, in the eyes of the network’s executives. All season long, Reaper has consistently beat out fellow freshman show Gossip Girl, but with a somewhat older crowd. The 18-34 demo has been higher for GG than for Reaper, so, CW execs committed the otherwise seemingly questionable act of renewing Gossip Girl early, but waiting on Reaper.
So, what of Reaper in the 2008-2009 season? Will the CW cancel Reaper, in a Fox-like, only-the-right-numbers-matter, flick of the pen? Of course, between now and the CW schedule announcements, expected on May 13, there are things that Reaper fans can do to help the show.
- Watch the show, especially when it’s airing.
- Have a Reaper party for the last three episodes.
- Tell your friends to watch the show.
- Visit the Reaper site at CWTV.com, and look at all the features there.
- Leave comments in the forums at CWTV.com.
- Vote “YES” for Reaper on any Sink or Swim polls that pop up on the internet.
- Put Reaper logos on your notebooks and book covers.
- Visit your local CW affiliate’s website, and leave comments about the show.
What else could fans do to help Reaper? Reaper fans are above-average intelligence, and, apparently, above average in experience. So, we should be able to come up with some good ideas in the next two weeks. Leave a comments with any thoughts or ideas you have.

I’m way out of the demo. that CW is aiming for, but in my opinion, Reaper is one of the best new shows! It would be a real shame for CW to cancel it now.

I love Reaper and it’s only gotten better. It’s one of the most interesting, quirky and charming things on TV. I hope fans will heed your advice on how to show support for this series. I’m gonna suggest all my friends do the same.

For the first time ever, my wife and I have a CW show in our permanent TV schedule: Reaper. What a great and thoroughly enjoyable show. The cast is simply terrific and the writing is sharp and witty. We love it! We can’t believe it’s “on the bubble.” Boston Legal? Women’s Murder Club? The Unit? You can have ‘em. We want REAPER!!!

I’m out of the demo, too, but love the show anyway. I think it has a very broad appeal and is just gaining in popularity.

I find it so ridiculous the amount of shows that have been cancelled following the writers strike, they havent given any shows the chance to recover, and its all the original shows, shows which bring something new. Give reaper a chance, its an awesome show, I love it over here in England, and would hate to see it cancelled.

Ohmygod, I love Reaper! It is one of the best shows on tv and I will be so mad if the CW decides to cancel it! Other shows out there get the chance to last but this probably won’t? It’s not fair. This show is funny and it has this charm that makes you just wanna keep watching. And it gets better by the episode. I hope the new episodes and fans give the Cw a new perspective.

WHY!!! I have lost so many good shows. Ok I know that makes me sound like my life is tv, it isnt. I have maybe 10 shows I watch a week. And this is one that I really look forward to. 3 of my shows are on this network, and if one of them has to go I think supernatural, it has lost whatever made it great.

I’m well outside the demo and this show is the only reason I watch the CW. It’s refreshing to see something smart and funny amidst the garbage “reality tv”, or shows well passed their prime. It’s the best show on the network, period. I couldn’t care less for any of their other shows. Who knows, if they do cancel we can always hope another network is smart enough to pick it up. Cancel it and I have no reason to tune in to the CW.

I am definitely not the target demo for the CW, but Reaper seems to give the channel a glint of credibilty in a blinding glare of reality programming. I stumbled across the show by accident and have been watching it all season. Not only keep Reaper for another season, but consider more shows like it!

Reaper should definitely have a second season! They left way too many questions unanswered in the first. And the show is awesome and hilarious at the same time! Shows this good or interesting are rare, so at least get to a stopping point before just canceling it!

Reaper is Great! I’m watching religiously, over and over, the few episodes that we have. Love ‘Cancun’! It added so much to the mystery of Sam. And ‘Coming to Grips’ has possibly the funniest scene with the soul falling from the ceiling.

can’t believe they are even considering caneling this show. i have to admit it started kinda slow and ify but its gotten so good. as its grown its gotten much deeper and a little darker making it all the more mysterious. as a person who doesn’t watch the CW and missed the begining of the series i found all the episodes and over two days watched every single one of them. i will be very disapointed to see this show disappear

L.O.V.E. Reaper! How can you go wrong with a show about the Devil, mystery, magic, etc…???
I’m part of the old Angel demo and it’s been a long time since anything good has come on! Makes me wonder what CW is doing sometimes thinking about cancelling the show!

REAPER is one of the greatest TV shows ever!
The characters are BRILLIANT and the plot is fantastic…
Will there be a Season 2? Of course.
They’d be mad to cancel this, if they do I’ll buy the rights and air the second season myself! Lol.

OMW if they cancel this show my life might just as well be over, Lets start a group on Facebook so that we can make a petition like thing to stop CW from having these stupid idea of canceling Reaper. Reapers whole plot, characters, humor is awesome. It beats Smallville, Heroes, Desperate Housewives, and all the other shows with their stupid dragged out story lines.
LONG LIVE REAPER!!!!!!!!!!!

KEEP KEEP KEEP KEEP. If CW cancels Reaper, I’ll never watch the station again!!!!! I’ll make sure the CW takes Judas’s place in hell. (OK so I don’t believe in any of this god/devil religious crap but Dante’s Inferno was one helluva read. Pun intended.)

Did they cancel it? I can’t find anything on the web about it, and the CW website isn’t very helpful. I do love this show.
